Velvet Clothing

Velvet clothing used to be worn only by the Nobles of England, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Russia and other notable countries. In fact, it was strictly reserved for the Nobility.

Today, velvet clothing can be purchased in just about any major department or specialty store or boutique.

Velvet clothing comes in many forms and shapes, and for men, women, and children. There are blazers, jackets, skirts, tops, pants, shorts, bolero's, handbags, hats, and many other items.

Velvet clothing items need to be dry-cleaned, as washing destroys the surface and wow, does it shrink!

There is nothing that says 'elegance' like a black velvet skirt and halter top. Worn with elbow or upper-arm length gloves, the combination is a knock-out.

A velvet blazer is another 'must have' item of clothing in anyone's wardrobe.

Everyone is familiar with a velvet robe and slippers. How comforting to give and receive them. And how warm and toasty in the cool days of fall and the cold days of winter.

Carrying a velvet clutch on an evening out can be very elegant. Whether it is a plain clutch, or one encrusted with jewels, is up to the individual buyer.

Hats seem to have gone out of fashion in some places, but a velvet hat is not one to be forgotten.

Velvet pants, capris or others, have that smooth, rich look. Make sure that the back side is not worn down to the underlying fabric however.
